Ultrarunning escapades rarely find their way into the mainstream media. Yet, Jasmin Paris has managed to thrust the sport into the limelight once again, earning an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) as part of the King Charles Birthday Honours List.
On Friday evening, it was confirmed that the Manchester-born runner, small-animal veterinarian, and mother was awarded an MBE for her incredible running exploits.
An MBE is a prestigious recognition for those who have made a significant difference in their community. This description perfectly befits Jasmin Paris, a 40-year-old who has not only excelled in the running sphere but has also co-founded the Green Runners, a testament to her dedication and impact beyond her sport.
Jasmin’s journey to the top began in the Peak District and continued in Edinburgh, where she decided to take her running career more seriously in 2010. Her determination paid off in 2019, when she won the Montane Spine Race, beating all other participants and setting a new course record by an astounding 12 hours.

What made Jasmin’s Spine Record even more spectacular was her stopping at aid stations to express milk for her infant daughter while racing and going on to win. It was an incredible feat of endurance that inspired many mothers to take on new challenges.
This record was held until January this year, when Jack Scott beat the time by 10-hours.
Over the years, she has gone on to take many FKT, including the three big rounds: The Paddy Buckley, Bob Graham and Ramsay Rounds.
Most recently, Jasmin became the first woman to complete the Barkley Marathons, a gruelling 100-mile race that less than 20 people have completed in almost 40 years of the race.
