Leading British performance eyewear brand, SunGod, has announced the launch of their Tom Evans Signature Series Ultras™ running sunglasses. The launch is ahead of Tom’s participation in this year’s Western States 100 ultra marathon, the world’s oldest 100-mile endurance race.
Tom Evans, a former Army Captain turned ultra runner extraordinaire, is one of the shining lights in the ultra running scene. Since completing the gruelling Marathon de Sables with a third-place spot in his very first race back in 2017, he has gone on to secure multiple UTMB World Series wins, even more course records and 3rd in the UTMB itself.
At this year’s Western States 100, Tom will be wearing his new Signature Series SunGod Ultras™. Featuring award-winning zero bounce frame design and market-leading 8KO® frameless lens technology, these Limited Edition Ultras™ are designed to elevate performance on the trails with their optical clarity. Each pair is entirely unique, featuring a splatter design on the frame which embodies Tom’s desire to stand out on the trails as he blazes ahead as one of the best ultra runners in the world.
Styling off the design, Tom’s Ultras™ are adorned with the simple mantra to which he owes his success: “Endure and Compete”.
Taking place on the 24th June, Tom will be taking part in his second Western States 100, having previously secured third place in the 2019 edition. The race takes place in Olympic Valley California, ending 100.2 miles (and 18,000 ft in climbing) later in Auburn, CA – and is considered a jewel in the crown of human endurance races.
Tom Evans said “I had a lot of fun with the design process here – playing it safe was not an option! What’s more, having kit that elevates my performance on the trails is essential and these sunglasses do that in every way, from the clarity of the lenses to the ultra-lightweight frames. I’m so excited to share these with the trail running community!”
