The international athletes taking part begin to arrive in Asia...

The 2023 IAU (International Association of Ultrarunners) will soon be holding its annual 24H World Championships on Friday 1st to Saturday 2nd December in Taipei.

A total of 115 women and 147 men will be participating at Dajia Riverside Park in this hotly contested field of international runners.

Robbie Britton, Dan Lawson and Sophie Power are some of the athletes included in the UK National Team, with the likes of world record holder, and recent Spartathlon female winner, Camille Herron competing in the US National Team.

On Instagram Robbie Button said

“Great to be out in Taiwan a week early to get used to running in the heat and humidity. Might have to give some of the street food a miss until after the race though.

It’s as much to get over the travel and the time difference as acclimatisation, but trying to stay awake and fit into the new time zone seems to have worked alright.”

Even the US National Running team posted “The 24 Hour format is a beast. It’s a long time to suffer!”

Good luck to everyone in Taipei.
