Taking home, the champions title after an epic race to the finish line in 17:10:42, Beth inspired audiences all over the world, marking a historic day for women and British Ultrarunning!
Ultrarunner Magazine had the honour of welcoming Beth back for a Q & A after her recent triumph in the states!
The Western States 100 Champion ….
“When I first got into Ultrarunning around eight years ago, the Western States 100 was one of the first races that I heard of. It was this event that had inspired me to get into the sport, though I never believed that I would be competing in the race, let alone winning it! It has taken me a long time to get to this point and winning that race meant everything!”
“I still can’t quite believe that it happened! I can’t quite believe that I ran the time that I did, and I have no idea how I pulled it off! When I finally got some sleep (at some point on the Sunday morning after the race) I had a nightmare that someone had double checked my Strava and pointed out that I had missed a checkpoint!” It is unbelievable and indescribable to be the winner of the Western States 100!” …
