Test and Review: Nike Zegama 2

The outer is tough and sturdy, providing protection against rugged rocks and brambles. I saw no breakage after wearing them through different terrains.

The Nike Zegama 2, a trail shoe with unique features, is the brand’s most recent launch in this category.

From the moment I put on the Nike Zegama 2, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of cushioning, a feature that sets it apart from other trail shoes I’ve tested. Unlike other brands that keep your feet close to the ground, these shoes offer a plush, bouncy experience.

The shoe has a sock fit, making it snug around my ankle with a tight lacing feature. I preferred this, but for those with a wider fit, you may want to consider sizing up slightly. The sock fit also acts as a gaiter, repelling unwanted debris from falling into the shoe, which I appreciated when running through forests and harder paths.

While running, you know how bouncy they are, as the energy you give is returned. They also have a drop (4mm), again providing a springy texture that helped with my speed and cadence. They were very comfortable on the hard-packed trails I traversed, and I didn’t feel the rocks beneath me.

I noticed a lip on the back of the Nike Zegama 2 , which I pondered would be challenging when going down technical footpaths on hills. I think this would take some getting used to.
