The world record for women was broken in the 12-hour event. The Spartanion, an ultra-marathon race with long distances of 24 hours, 12 hours, 100 miles, 100 km and one and a half marathon (63 KM) is held for the fourth year in a row in Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv ISRAEL. About 100 runners from Israel and all over the world participated in this year’s race.
The race has a bronze Label from the International Association of The Ultra Runners (IAU), it is drug supervised and it’s course is measured by an AIMS certified measurer.
After breaking two world records last year- the 100-mile and the 12-hours course by Lithuanian runner Alexander Sorokin, the race has generated a lot of interest among the global ultra runner community.
This year, the Spartanion race welcomed Mrs. Dominika Stelmach from Poland, who came to compete in the race. Stelmach came with the stated intention of breaking the world record for women for 12 hours.
The world record for women for 12 hours currently stands at 149.130 km and belongs to the American runner, Camille Heron.Stelmach had set off at 10:00 AM today and looked great throughout the race.
After 6 hours she had managed to improve the 6 hours world record for women aged 40-45, that belonged to her. She had then broke the world record for the 12 hours distance and set it on 152.633 km (an official time yet to be recognized by the IAU).
