Dan Lawson; a name etched into the history of British ultra-running. But it might surprise you that it’s as much for his charitable work and his environmental beliefs and passions expressed through ReRun (alongside his wife Charlotte, and daughters Lilly and Ruby) as it is for his remarkable records.
With the calibre of winning the IAU 24 Hour European Championships in 2016 with a distance of 162.7 miles and also being the second fastest British runner in the history of Spartathlon (placing 2nd in 2015), Dan has also set records’ for the longest distance run during a 24-hour ultramarathon in India and for running 521 miles on a treadmill over 7 days.
And in August 2020, Dan Lawson ran from Land’s End to John o’ Groats in 9 days, 21 hours, 14 minutes and 2 seconds, setting the fastest known time with robust supporting evidence.
Ultrarunner Magazine were privileged to catch up with Dan Lawson and his coach, Team GB ultrarunner Robbie Britton, to find out what makes Dan tick.
