New FKT and Course Record set at RAS215

Caspian James beat Jack Scott's previous 2020 record by two hours

Supporters alike eagerly dot-watched UK athlete Caspian James this morning as he crossed the finish line of the famous Race Across Scotland 215 (RAS215), setting a new course record and a FKT for the Southern Upland Way.

The Race Across Scotland, by GB Ultras, is an immense 215-mile race that traverses the width of Scotland along the Southern Upland Way, taking in around 30,000ft of elevation.

Caspian James set off on Saturday, 10th August, alongside 150 athletes at Portpatrick, travelling through mountains, along the valleys, through the forests of the Southern Uplands to finish in Cockburnspath. Caspian, who remained one of the leaders from the beginning, finished at 11:37am on Monday 12th August.

In turn, Caspians’ performance at this event has set two records with his incredible time of 53:37:11, beating the previous course record set by Scott Brown in 2022 (58 hours, 7 minutes) and the FKT set by Jack Scott in 2020. The race is also Caspian’s longest event by 103 miles.

Caspian stormed ahead from second place Robert Barnes, who is expected to finish around 16:45 GMT.
