My Journey to Ultrarunner – Steven Hartle

From Rugby to Ultrarunning

From Rugby to 50 miles!!!!

So here goes…. My journey to becoming an ultramarathon runner.

It started on the 29th May 2013, when I was playing rugby league for Hindpool Tigers. That day changed my sporting life, the day I ruptured my ACL in my right knee. There’s no worse sound in the world than that horrible pop in your knee and the instant pain. I had surgery to repair my ligament with two titanium screws being putting in my leg ( No I don’t beeb when I go through the airport) to hold my new ligament in place. Which leads me to my start of my running journey.

Rugby retirement happened that night in A&E on the 29th May, but it also got me thinking of what I could do once I had recovered from my injury.
