Congratulations on the 6th edition of the GB Ultras Manchester to Liverpool (M2L) Ultramarathon, could you tell us more about it?
“The Manchester to Liverpool Ultramarathon is a 50-mile Ultra with a 14-hour cut off time. The race starts at the Manchester United football stadium. This year we had a mass start as usual (COVID permitting), with around 400 hundred runners taking part”.
“The route does a loop of Trafford, before coming to the Bridgewater canal, then it follows down to Chorlton water park where we have checkpoint one. Then it is a loop around the water park before heading back the way it came, joining the river Mersey and along the Trans Pennine Trail, which takes runners through Dunham Massey and into checkpoint two.
Runners continue along the Trans Pennine Trail to Latchford Locks and from there they head to Fiddlers Ferry and towards Spike Island, heading under the Mersey Gate. Next, is Pickers Pasture through Hale village to checkpoint five, then Halewood Park, through disused railway tracks and a gorgeous park area, heading towards checkpoint six. From there, it is a home straight to the finish at North Ends Sports and Social Club”.
Is the trail marked?
