I’ve taken on many different races and it’s always good to have the right kit, from 400m to 215 miles. As I live on an island which can get pretty windy and rainy I thought this was a great opportunity to try out the Lynx Multi-Sport Jacket from Keela.
I was very happy when it arrived as I love the bright colour, it wasn’t heavy and I tried it on straight away. On the same day that evening I went and ran 5km just to see what it felt like. It felt comfortable but I wasn’t keen on all the zips. I wanted the opportunity to test the coat out in the rain, but I had to wait for two reasons. The first one I was away in Italy for two weeks taking part in at 10x 50km in 10 days, The second reason was we had a water shortage and very little rain. As I waited for the rain I did manage to get out several times test out the material in the wind, it’s medium-thick StretchTec fabric has good resistance. I did find I got very warm even when I had the side vents that run right down each side of the body open.
The seals on the zips do their job, and when I did finally get to run in some rain the water stayed out of the pockets.
I do love running in the rain when it’s not windy. It gives you that feeling of freedom and the jacket certainly helped me to feel comfortable, warm and dry. I get the feeling that this coat may have been designed more for cyclists as I found it also comfortable out on my bike. But it would work for multiple sports.
Overall I really liked this jacket and would recommend it to others, even if I’m not a fan of all the zips. I did eventually get used to them and they don’t move at all which is great as I hate the feeling or sound of them moving. It’s also not a jacket you want to be wearing on a warm day.
As an extra bonus, if you’re running or even cycling on a main road this version is very high viz and can be easily seen.
