Running to Croatia > Interview with Laurence Woodcock

The journey...

In 2018 Laurence Woodcock travelled 1,500 miles from Stoke to Croatia on foot raising just over £3,000 for a North Staffs based charity which supports young men’s mental health.  I spoke with Laurence to find out about his background, the mental health issues that inspired him to make this journey and the battles he faced on the way.

How many years have you been running for and why do you run?

I first did my first half marathon back in 2007 so on and off for about 13 years.

I really like getting outdoors, it clears my head a little and there is something that feels really positive about getting from a to b on your own fuel and your own steam.

When did the transition take place into ultra-running and why did you get into that?
