Pioneering sports brand inov-8 is heating things up with the launch of a new trail running shoe that is set to get hearts – and legs – racing.
The TRAILFLY G 270 V2 is the successor to the TRAILFLY G 270, which in 2020 won four major ‘Trail Running Shoe of the Year’ awards.
Now equipped with a better fit, greater comfort and longer-lasting durability, the new shoe looks set to gain admirers and forge new relationships with trail runners wanting fast-feel footwear for longer distances.
The TRAILFLY G 270 V2 officially launches on Thursday – in the week of Valentine’s Day – and kicks off inov-8’s 20-year birthday celebrations.
Wayne Edy, who founded the English Lake District based brand in 2003, said: “Some people said it was impossible to improve upon the first version, but our talented design team simply saw that as a challenge!
“A series of clever updates to the shoe’s upper, combined with the retention of the magic in the outsole and midsole, means we have a new offering that will excite the hearts – and legs – of trail runners all over the world. The best just got even better!”
Among the changes made is a repositioning of materials to allow more stretch and breathability in the toe-box, the introduction of a more comfortably padded slimline tongue, and the use of a new mesh material covering the upper that is 25% more durable.
The original TRAILFLY G 270 was worn by many athletes to win races and set records. Among them was Great Britain ultra-trail runner Damian Hall who ran the 185-mile Wainwright’s Coast to Coast trail across the breadth of Northern England in a record time of 39 hours 18 minutes.
Damian said: “The TRAILFLY G 270 is my favourite-ever trail shoe and I’ve had some of my best runs in it. I can easily get over 1,000 miles out of a pair before the wear and tear on the upper becomes too much. I’m excited by the new upper material, which should make it even more durable.”
