The Montane Women’s Minimus Lite Waterproof Jacket is an excellent addition to your running gear collection. Whether you are a running enthusiast who’s on the trails most weekends or you’re just yearning for a lightweight, breathable jacket for your next adventure, this is a wonderful choice.

I have the flattering lilac colour, a nice change from the neon yellow that decorates my wardrobe. However, it also comes in red and navy blue if you don’t think lilac is your colour.

As the April shower seasons begin in the UK, I wanted a lightweight jacket that could protect me from the rain and be lightweight enough for long-distance running.

When looking at gear for my pack, I want the lightest material, and this jacket feels almost non-existent when I’ve packed it away. It certainly lived up to its name.

I am wearing a size 14 women’s jacket. The material is a soft 20 Denier PERTEX® SHIELD and provides a lovely tapered construction. When running, I am not greeted with the irritating ‘swish swish’ of material, which was a welcome factor.

The stretchy fabric means it moves with my body when I run; I don’t find myself feeling constricted, and there’s no friction between my sensitive British skin and the liner. The softness and stretchiness of the material also mean I don’t have to worry about it tearing or causing friction against a pack.

The hood isn’t a nuisance due to the lightweight fabric, which means even when it’s down, you don’t feel like it pulls against your neck. The full-length, durable YKK AQUAGUARD® front zip is smooth, and the large pockets are waterproof, so they provide a safe place for valuables I don’t want to get wet.

An added bonus which is a constant across many Montane waterproofs, the Minimus Lite features windproof technology. As they are totally windproof, I found that I don’t feel as cold when I’ve stopped running due to the inner lining retaining heat for longer.

I think the Montane Minimus Lite Waterproof Jacket is a well-worth investment, as I can’t see the jacket going through natural wear and tear as quickly as cheaper jackets. The benefits of investing in a decent running jacket are insurmountable, and this jacket is a wonderful, lightweight, warm jacket for those spring morning training sessions.
