FitKit Runners Performance Recovery Kit – Test and Review

"I’ll do anything to help to reduce the chance of injury and these gels are an excellent bonus..."

With race season fast approaching I was happy to try out Fit Kit’s Runners Performance Recovery Kit. Not only should it help my post-run recovery but it also seems the perfect travel bag addition to take with me on overnight running trips and races. We all know that ultra running is high-impact and can take its toll on the body so post-run recovery is really important. At first glance I really like the packaging plus they’re practical and easy to hang in the shower with the carabiner metal loops or can be stacked up next to each other on a shelf.

Two of the shower gels included in the Kit are designed to help relieve muscle soreness after running and I found that as part of my overall recovery routine they seemed to help me bounce back quickly so I could keep on training effectively. The Muscle Cooling Gel was really great, it’s a cooling black gel so when rubbed onto my aching legs the peppermint extract smelt amazing and soothed my muscles. It’s also an easy Cold Therapy option!

FitKit shower gel - sauna oils

The Body Recovery Shower Gel is definitely much like a sauna in a sachet! I often need a hot shower to wind down and the smell of rosemary and pine in my hands helped me to do this. It’s also meant to replenish your energy levels and muscle soreness, and I did feel reinvigorated afterwards. It is a pleasant experience to use this gel and feels like my own mini sauna experience at home. I think both of the gels used consistently will last a few weeks of use, which is great particularly right now with a lot of training going on. Plus I’ll do anything to help to reduce the chance of injury and these gels are an excellent bonus – physically and mentally – added into my current regime.

The third pack in the Kit is the Gentle Repair Shampoo and Conditioner and this really lathers up well and gives a squeaky-clean finish. Again it smells good, with caffeine extract its aim is to increase blood flow to your follicles to strengthen your hair whilst coconut milk adds moisture. Ideal for frequent hair washing, and I have to admit that on a quick trip this could easily act as a body wash too.

I was really happy with the products overall, I feel their quality is high and worth the price point of around a fiver as a boost to my overall wellbeing, sleep benefit and muscle recovery. Its hard to quantify a shower gel in terms of helping muscle repair but reducing soreness in my legs has to be a bonus and add to my overall running performance.
