Emma Timmis: Breaking the Record by 15 Days

Running the length of New Zealand for mental health support

Emma Timmis is an ultrarunner who has recently broken the record for running the length of New Zealand.

After picking up the passion for running at the age of 12, she has gone from strength to strength, which included the incredible achievements of running across Africa in 2014 and now New Zealand.

Timmis has had to recover from a long-lasting leg injury that set her back both physically and mentally to get to where she is now as a double Guinness world record holder.

When she was 33, Timmis suffered from an injury that was undiagnosable for a long period of time and it took its toll.  “I really struggled with my mental health when I was injured,” Timmis said.

“It was undiagnosed and it was distressing not knowing what is going on with your body. Especially when you rely on your body for things that bring you happiness such as exercise.
