Bob Thomas, professional drummer, and recent Ultra convert is set to embark on a 100-mile journey through Wales, towing a drum kit, before playing a celebratory gig at the finish line, while raising money for charity!
Bob Thomas sat down with Ultrarunner Magazine to discuss his upcoming challenge and fill us in on the logic behind the madness!
“I guess, I like to pick silly things to do, and I don’t look back!”
“I have been a professional drummer since I was seventeen years old, music is my passion. Turning nineteen and struggling to load my drumkit into venues it dawned on me that my fitness levels were terrible and that perhaps it was time to get more serious about my health.
Going back and forth between gigs, the poor nutrition and lack of real exercise began to take their toll. Running seemed like the easy option, though later I would come to discover that it was not! I entered my first marathon in 2018 and I hated every moment of it!
