Anti-Chafing & Foot Care Kit Essential and the Deluxe Anti-Chafing & Foot Care Kit by myRaceKit
The Anti-Chafing & Foot Care Kit Essential first aid kit from myRaceKit is comprised of good quality single use supplies in a rugged resealable bag. Weighing only 46 grams and compact enough to fit into a running belt Salomon AGILE 500 Belt or a pocket of your race pack, this kit features all the things you will need to prevent and treat blister quickly on the go without carrying a large blister care kit while out on any long run or multi-stage events.
The 2Toms BlisterShield Single Use Powder sachet can be used in socks either for preventative treatment or following taping to reduce friction also ideal if you are breaking in new footwear, I used it in my socks and to be honest its good none clumping and easy to apply, some in the sock and the rest rubbed on the feet, not a large sachet but enough to do my both size 8.5 feet.
The Toms SportShield Single Use Towelette in the green packet will target those areas that are prone to chafing or blisters, extremely easy to use just wipe and go. I used this on the shoulder section of my race vest and the result was great, no chaffing just like a baby wipe. The kit also comes with Foldable scissors (to cut tape which is also supplied within this pack) and 1x Hypodermic needle in a hard protective case (to lance small blisters). The kit also comes with a quick fix blister cushion and 2.5cm wide x 1m Hypafix & 5cm wide x 1m Hypafix both good for preventative taping or treatment of blisters on toes and with an easy to peel off backing which is always helpful with cold, wet fingers.

Summary
If you are looking for a small blister kit when volume and weight is critical, you only want a minimal emergency solution on the go, I would recommend the Anti-Chafing & Foot Care Kit Essential first aid kit from myRaceKit, this will be added to my first aid kit in my race pack on the next event.
The Deluxe Anti-Chafing & Foot Care Kit
The Deluxe Anti-Chafing & Foot Care Kit from myRaceKit, is still light at 136 grams and still small enough to fit into your race pack or small enough to be put in you drop off bag, the deluxe kit comes in a waterproof, sand proof LOKSAK bag ideal for multi-stage races such as the Marathon Des Sables or long single-stage ultras in all weather conditions. First impressions are good with lots of different items.
So, what is the difference between the anti-chafing kit and the Deluxe kit, apart from a weight difference of 96 grams which is still light for the number of items.
What is in the pack?
Skin disinfection & Blister drying:
- Alcohol Wipes x 5 (to clean skin and improve tape adhesion)
- Eosine Swabs x 3 (to dry the blisters)
- Heavy duty 6cm x 80cm Tensoplast
- 5cm x 5m Hypafix
- 5cm x 80cm of Rocktape (excellent for Kinesiotaping, strapping, and to use for prevention of chafing and blisters)
Tools:
- Foldable scissors (to cut tape)
- 3x Hypodermic Needles (to lance blisters)
Anti-Chafing:
- 2x 2Toms BlisterShieldPowder sachets (use in socks either for preventative treatment or following taping to reduce friction)
- 1x Gurney Goo 10ml tube(antiseptic silicone-based anti-chafing cream for any areas prone to chafing)
- 2x Blister cushions (quick fix for blisters, ideally secure with tape for longer lasting adhesion)
- 2x plastic shoe covers.
- 2x Adhesive remover wipes (to help remove stubborn tapes
The kit also comes with Gurney Goo this is something I’ve not heard of before, Gurney Goo made in New Zealand comes in a 10ml handy tube and fits nicely in the waterproof bag but larger tubes are available on myRacekit the website, the Anti Friction, Anti-Blister, Anti-Septic and Anti-Chafing, Gurney Goo uses the latest silicon technology with Tea Tree antiseptic qualities to keep your feet dry, preventing prune wrinkles which I wish I had when I did the GB Ultras Snowdon 50 in 2019.
It can also be used in the armpits, crotch, butt cheeks & nipples. Prevents blisters.
Tried & tested by Steve Gurney who won the New Zealand Coast to Coast (243km challenge over two days) 7 times in a row, it is also great for preventing baby nappy rash!
It is a triple whammy product; water proofing, friction reducing and infection protection! The complete anti chafe solution! lubricating goop. After using this Goo I can say that its amazing stuff, when I wear some t-shirts I get nipple rub and runners that know how this feels it hurts a lot, but wow nothing after using it.
Another great idea from myRaceKit is the simple but affective over shoe covers made from strong plastic with an elastic opening which stops the over-cover from coming off, these can be used as protection after having your feet cleaned/treated in camp or to keep feet dry in wet conditions around the checkpoint/camp, as a layer between dry socks and wet shoes, these small items have multiple uses and a great addition to the kit.
The 80cm Rocktape which is also in the kit can be used as Kinesiotaping up those areas which you need to and as it is all kept inside the waterproof bag you have no worries of it getting wet and losing its stickiness.

Summary
For multistage events or longer runs this would be my go-to pack as it has everything you need in one place, with it only being 136 grams it won’t take up much room in the race pack or in your drop bag, I would recommend the Deluxe Anti-Chafing & Foot Care Kit from myRaceKit, and this would be a great addition to anyone’s kit list for any multi stage event, or large single stage ultra like the Race Across Scotland.
