Adidas has done it again, creating a stellar product for us endurance runners, taking the shape of socks.
The Terrex HEAT.RDY Trail Running Agravic crew socks are an excellent addition to every ultra runner’s toolbox. Sturdy, fitted and long-lasting, I feel like I’m putting on a new pair of socks with every wear.
“Padded in the right places, they offer the support to handle long efforts and uneven terrain. The soft polyester blend has just the right amount of stretch for a stay-put fit, with an anti-blister knit for all-day comfort.”
I have worn the Adidas Terrex HEAT.RDY socks several times now, and I have greatly enjoyed their tenacity. Whether running on the road or trail, the socks withstand any rubbing or weather.
The material is soft but sturdy, made from 40% recycled materials, which Adidas says is “just one of our solutions to end plastic waste.” I found them still very breathable, and sweat didn’t seem as much of an issue when I wore them.
They have padding and arch support, with anti-blister yarn on the toe, so I felt like my feet were protected whenever I wore them. Foot health is a priority for long-distance runners, and I found these socks gave me confidence that I would receive minimal damage to my toes and heel.
A crew fit is preferable for me, as trainer socks tend to slip down over my heel after several washes. They come in two colours; black and orange. I used these socks on my second lap of Snowdon during the Snowdon24 race, and it was a relief to know I was wearing socks that wouldn’t bother me during the race.
“It’s nice to see these styles of socks in a woman’s shoe size, as companies often offer socks in more ‘feminine’ colours. The sizes range from 2 to 12.5, making them excellent socks for children or for other activities like hiking and cycling.”
They are a thinner material that completely encapsulates my arch. I understand this may be uncomfortable for some, but the lack of movement meant my foot could move freely, leading to fewer cramps when I reached higher mileage.
I have washed them several times, and they still feel brand new. I plan to get several more pairs as they are incredibly comfortable and will last a long time.
