Lucy Bartholomew is an Australian ultra-trail runner who has just won the Tarawera ultra-marathon in New Zealand.
At the age of 15, after seeing her dad compete in a trail race as well as several road marathons, Lucy fell in love with the sport of ultrarunning and has since gone on to achieve many accolades including several race wins.
“I got into the sport through my dad, and I’d join in with him with the training he was doing,” Lucy shared.
“Then I watched the first race he did, and everyone I saw just had a massive smile on their face and I thought it was phenomenal, it really inspired me.”
Bartholomew was only 15 years of age at this point so had to get in contact with race directors directly to see if she was allowed to compete and one allowed her to. Ten years on and she has completed and won numerous events whilst running alongside her father.
